This encyclopedia is based on the astrobiology articles in Wikipedia. It's basically a content fork I made after I was blocked from Wikipedia for contributing the article on [[Possible Present Day Habitats For Life On Mars]]. Rather bizarrely they deleted it because of its subject matter, not seeming to know that one of the top goals for NASA and ESA is to study such habitats. Most of the articles are released under the same license as Wikipedia, so if later they want to use some of this material they can.

I hope this can provide a friendlier place where editors can edit articles on astrobiology in an atmosphere of mutual respect in a smaller wiki. There is a lot of good content in Wikipedia on this topic, clearly added by editors who understood the topic. But most of it hasn't had substantial edits for years, with the exception of bold edits by editors who are not especially familiar with the topic and introduce errors. Such as deleting my article, and other material on the present day habitability of Mars, for reasons that seem a bit obscurre. For more on the background, see [[Astrobiology:Background to this encyclopedia]].
