English: "Curiosity's Heat Shield in Detail", photo by NASA/JPL. Obtained at Aug. 5 (PDT), 2012 with Mars Descent Imager camera (MARDI) installed on bottom of en:Mars_Science_Laboratory Curiosity. The 15-foot (4.5-meter) diameter heat shield is shown 3 seconds after separation from the descent Capsule, when it was about 50 feet (16 meters) from the spacecraft.
Spatial scale of image is 0.4 inches (1 cm) per pixel. It is the 36th MARDI image. The original image from MARDI has been geometrically corrected to look flat.Polski: "Osłona Termiczna Curiosity w Szczegółach" To kolorowe, wykonane w pełnej rozdzielczości zdjęcie przedstawiające osłonę termiczną należącego do NASA łazika Curiosity uzyskano podczas jego opadania na powierzchnię Marsa 5 sierpnia PDT (6 sierpnia EDT) przy pomocy kamery MARDI zainstalowanej w dolnej części łazika Curiosity. Osłona termiczna mająca średnicę 4.5 metra została sfotografowana w trzeciej sekundzie po odłączeniu od kapsuły opadania, kiedy była oddalona 16 metrów od kamery MARDI. Zdjęcie to, przedstawia wewnętrzną powierzchnię osłony cieplnej, wykonanej z wielowarstwowej izolacji ochronnej. Jasne plamy na osłonie cieplnej są znacznikami kalibracyjnymi kamery MARDI. Na zdjęciu widać także sprzęt (MEDLI) zamontowany na wewnętrznej powierzchni osłony. Są to naukowe instrumenty mierzące parametry wejścia do marsjańskiej atmosfery i podczas fazy zniżania. Przestrzenna skala zdjęcia wynosi 1 cm na piksel. Jest to 36 zdjęcie MARDI.Oryginalne zdjęcie MARDI poddane było geometrycznej korekcji aby wyglądało płasko. |
