Planetary scientist Vlada Stamenković of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and colleagues have developed a new chemical model of how oxygen dissolves in Martian conditions,. whichThey raisesfound that in the possibilitycold conditions on Mars the trace amounts of oxygen in its thin atmosphere gets concentrated into oxygen-rich brines;. The coldest brines have enough oxygen, the work suggests, to support simple animals such as sponges. The model was published in Nature (journal) on October 22 2018.
