Unblock request
Robertinventor (block log • active blocks • global blocks • autoblocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
The main issues arose when
- I authored substantial new content by myself (Or Dorje108 did, for Buddhism)
- another editor (not a collaborator) suddenly deleted it or nominated it.
- and I posted to talk pages to try to get it restored or kept. Note, I never edit war. Just talk.
I am aware I tend to become more verbose when this happens, it’s my academic background kicking in!
My plan is to do minor edits and corrections for six months. After that, to do any major content with collaborators from the start. I already do this on Wikinews[1][2][3][4]. After completing it together we'd submit it for review as a Good Article again similarly to WikiNews.
I have already worked on an article with another editor here in this way[5]. This was eventually passed as a Good article[6] which retains all the cites I added.
I can probably find microtonal collaborators[7]
As per WP:OTHERWIKIS the deleted content is in other wikis or blogs. I accept the consensus decision to delete it here.
I am also committed to reducing my word count.
The closing admin didn't pick out any particular points[8]. In the discussion, only a couple of points relate to wikignoming:
- Made a minor mistake in Perigean tides.[9]. However WP:BOLD says "Think about it this way: if you don't find one of your edits being reverted now and then, perhaps you're not being bold enough".
The other minor edit discussed originated in Black hole [10](1,859 watchers[11] and a Good article[12]) where it was immediately reviewed by WolfmanSF[13]. It is still there[14] as are the other two I mentioned [15][16][17][18].
I have always been a good faith editor. The deleted article was my best attempt to present views of others, not myself, e.g. dinner plate quote is of NASA's planetary protection officer[19], and eutectics section describes work of Toner et al[20], which I forgot to cite in three sections. I have always done the very best I can to improve Wikipedia and never include my own work, rather, I remove cites[21].
Note, I was main editor of Planetary protection (68.8% mine, check with WhoColor[22]). However, if unblocked, I will not even do minor edits because of connection with deleted material[23][24], but edit my copy[25].
I ask to be unblocked to return to minor edits[26] which is what I worked on most weeks as volunteer editor for Wikipedia. In the year before the block, I fixed over 90 articles[27], with only 2 reverts[28]. I have a ten year history of Wikignoming with no issues raised before the indef block.
Thank you for your time in considering this appeal.Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
- Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:
