Unblock request

This blocked user is asking that his block be reviewed:

Request reason:

Firstly, apologies for taking up so much of everyone’s time in the past. With guidance from friends, I have been able to learn valuable lessons on Wiki editing. I would now like to re-engage, mainly as a wikignome, with no hard feelings on my side.

The main issues arose when

  • I spent a long time authoring substantial new content (Or Dorje108 did, for Buddhism)
  • another editor suddenly deleted it, or nominated it, usually without prior discussion
  • and I posted to talk pages to try to get it restored or kept. Note, I never edit war. Just talk.

I am aware I tend to become more verbose when this happens, it’s my academic background kicking in!

My plan is to do minor edits and corrections for six months. After that, to do any major content with collaborators from the start. This would deal with issues of competence, because we would be working together. I already do this on Wikinews[1][2][3][4]. After completing it together we'd submit it for review as a Good Article again similarly to WikiNews.

I have already worked on an article with another editor here in this way. I provided four of the cites and removed two cites to my own blog added by another editor[5][hhttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=820821461][6] and took part in the discussion - this was eventually passed as a Good article[7] which retains all the cites I added.

I can probably find microtonal collaborators[8]

As per WP:OTHERWIKIS the deleted content is in other wikis or blogs. I accept the consensus decision to delete it here.

I have a ten year history of Wikignoming with no issues.

I am also committed to reducing my word count.

The closing admin didn't pick out any particular points[9]. In the discussion, only a couple of points relate to wikignoming:

  • Made a minor mistake in Perigean tides.[10]. However WP:BOLD says "Think about it this way: if you don't find one of your edits being reverted now and then, perhaps you're not being bold enough".

The other minor edit discussed originated in Black hole [11](1,859 watchers[12] and a Good article[13]) where it was immediately reviewed by WolfmanSF[14]. It is still there[15] as are the other two I mentioned [16][17][18][19].

I have always been a good faith editor. For instance, Wikipedia's content license permits dual licensing, all rights reserved in my book and CC by SA here. The deleted article was my best attempt to present views of others, such as NASA and the main page of the NASA planetary protection office, not myself. Of course I often misunderstand things, but I have always been doing the very best I can to improve Wikipedia and have never tried toinclude other people's work here.

Note, I was the main editor of Planetary protection (68.8% mine, check with WhoColor[20]). However, if unblocked, I will not even add cites to an uncited section[21] because of connection with deleted material[22], but edit my copy[23].

I ask to be unblocked to return to minor edits[24] which I did most weeks as volunteer editor for Wikipedia. I have a good track record. In the year before the block, I fixed over 90 articles[25], with only 2 reverts[26]

Thank you for your time in considering this appeal.
